Amara & Rui

We are getting married on the west coast of Ireland, and we would love you there. Ballyvaughan, County Clare.

Our story

Eleven years, one very long walk home

We met in a queue for a bad festival in 2015 and spent the whole weekend arguing about whether the band had been worth it. Amara still says no. Rui has never conceded.

There were eleven years in between, three cities, one very patient dog, and a proposal on a beach in February that neither of us had dressed for.

Clare is where we ended up, and where the people we love have always somehow ended up too. So it is where we will do this.

The day

Saturday, twelfth of September

  1. 2:30 pm

    Ceremony

St Brigid’s, on the hill above the village. Please be seated by twenty past.

  2. 4:00 pm

    Drinks in the walled garden

Oysters, brown bread and something cold. Flat shoes are the wise choice on the gravel.

  3. 6:30 pm

    Dinner in the barn

One long table. You will find your name on a card at the door.

  4. 9:00 pm

    Music until late

A three-piece to start, then whatever happens after that.

Getting there

Where to stay, and how to find us

Flying
Shannon is fifty minutes by road and much the easiest. Dublin is three hours if the fare is better.
Staying
We have held rooms at two guesthouses in the village until the end of July. Ask us and we will send the booking codes.
Driving
The last mile is a single track with passing places. There is parking in the field beside the barn, and it is fine to leave a car overnight.
An old stone barn at dusk with festoon lights strung across the courtyard

“The barn was a cow shed until 1998. We think that is the nicest thing about it.”

Will you be there?

If you could let us know by the first of August, the caterers will think much better of us.

Will you come?
